"Excellent Feature Set, Poor Execution"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
A multitude of features and effects
Easy and intuitive interface
Good documentation and instructions
Automatic backup settingsCons
Crashes continuously. Only runs for 30 seconds to 5 minutes before it crashes. I have a fast system with lots of RAM and plenty of disk space and have no problems with any other programs on my system.
Summary
I'm still in the middle of a project and I bought this because of it's "Old Time Movie" effect and sepia tone. You can only apply one effect at a time, so you have to save the "Project" as a file, then import it and add the next effect. If it all works out for this project, I'll happy with it and no other program I found could do what this program hopefully can do. The crash problem is a real probelm, though.

"A Great Video Editor"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
Very easy to jump right in and make edits.
Allows you to grow with the program and learn some complex editing skills.
It's a fun experience.
Compared to other editing suites it offers the perfect combination of function and affordability.Cons
Can be clunky as you get more complex in your edit.
It will occasionally crash if your edit is very complicated (using several tracks of titles, effects, &video on one project)
Not offered for a Mac.
Exporting your project to disc or youtube could be more streamlined and move faster, but the speed might have more to do with my processor.Summary
I was a producer in TV News for almost a decade. I was also a video editor and videographer for a cruise line. This works as well as some of the pro grade stuff i used. Avid, Premiere, and Final Cut have more extremely complex options, but if you're looking for something you can use quickly to create a great looking video faster with a much easier learning curve, get this. You will be glad you did. It's got tons of great transitions, a great title tool, and the ability to key out solid colors. Seriously, get it.

"Very Pleased!"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
LOTS of features in this! Nice transitions, effects, add additional video/audio tracks, etc. Individual tracks lock to keep them in place once you're satisfied. Feature rich title editor. The program is well laid out, similar to Pinnacle or PwrDir.
Cons
Nothing. It's a great software. I recommend it!

"Excellent- Here is why"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
Ease of use, very intuitive. I have used this software for a couple of years and am now onto this latest iteration.
It is very intuitive and easy to use for a beginner, I am more used to it now and I am always finding new "tricks".
I normally use this software for making DVD's for my Truck. of note it accepts most formats including FLV(flash)- Did you know that YouTube videos are in Flash format? *cough*
Rendering/Processing is average, but this is more about your own computer power than the software - I have 8GB RAM + Quad Core and this made a big difference.
I have also used it to redo my wedding video, Projects for my son's school and for making a 50th Independence Celebration DVD for my store in Jamaica.
The software includes a Burner and loads of output formats as well as different medias such as DVD (PAL & NTSC), File etc.Cons
None - so far.

"Good Video Editor for the Price"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
Super easy to use
Great learning tool and stepping stone for better editors
You can have multiple audio and video tracksCons
You won't be able to edit a Hollywood film out of this. Sorry, you get what you pay for. :(
Summary
If you're looking for a high-octane video editor that can edit the next big Hollywood blockbluster, the AVS Video Editor won't help. This editor is great for making simple to medium complexity in video edits. AVS Video Editor is a great editor to learn from. I consider it a stepping stone to better video editors such as Adobe After Effects. AVS is good for the price.

"Company questionable Software Average"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
edits video files
several programs available when signing upCons
does not do more sophisticated editing
support is slow
company questionableSummary
I signed up for 1 year of access to this software. When I had a question response time was longer than the advertised 48 hours. My responses came with apologies attached to them. I was able to do simple editing with the video editor but when I wanted to do more advanced editing the software fell short(1).
My biggest concern came when my subscription was automatically renewed without warning charging my credit card. I could find no place to access my account settings regarding billing. When I wrote to the company they replied saying that I agreed to automatically renew the software when I signed up to use software. When I questioned this I received no response from the company. For this alone I would give the software a single star. I recommend staying away from this company as there is much better software.
(1)Example: When I wanted to place video at a specific point on a time line I could not find a way to do it unless I filled the space between the beginning of the clip and that point. Tech support had no answer for me. -
"First trial that actually worked!"
Version: AVS Video Editor 6.2.1.222
Pros
1) Simple almost traditional like windows interface. Not crazily overdone like so many other apps.
2) Was able to import my AVCHD MTS files
3) I was able to edit them.
4) I was able to export them (with a trial watermark)Cons
A bit slow.
Summary
I will be purchasing this since it actually works and I was able to figure out how to use the software without having to read a manual.
I just wish it ran a little faster.
