"A totally amateurish muddle"
Version: AVS Video Converter 8.1.2.510
Pros
It installs.
Access to codec settings.Cons
It's like finding your way around a maze.
No Help file or user manual.
Very user-unfriendly.Summary
This software is hell to find your way through, with this here and that there, etc. It's just too chaotic, even with the codec setup. If only the developers had copied the simplicity and logical approach of VirtualDub this would have been a whole lot better. Unfortunately it seems to have been developed by a geek (or geeks) that have trouble communicating with real people in the real world. It might not have been so bad if there were any decent Help files, but there are none, and for something that retails at this price it just looks like silly students chancing for a bit of cash by selling their silly programming project. All I could find in a Google search was some brief next-to-useless pdf file; I'm certainly not going to waste my time asking questions in a forum - and I shouldn't have to!. MAKE HELP FILES AND INSTRUCTION MANUAL!
I wanted to crop my super-wide movie file so that it preview box stays at about 5:4 so the picture is crunched vertically. What does that mean? That the result will be crunched as I see it? There's no way of knowing without sitting there like a silly boy experimenting trial and error. However, I carried out the experiment but the MP4 encode stopped just before the end to notify of some meaningless error, so the output file was dead - what a timewaster!
This is an example of the appallingly amateur approach of this junk. I feel particularly angry that I wasted so much time on it. -
"One of the Best You Must have in Your life"
Version: AVS Video Converter 8.1.2.510
Pros
AVS is synonymous to Pefect. AVS is rated as No.1 in many website. Not only AVS Audio/Video software are wonderful. Few people might know that AVS Document Converter and AVS Registry Cleanser are also terrific! AVS Document Converter 2.1 can freely convert so many formats freely. AVS registry cleanser can cleanse the system safely. Many other registry cleanse software usually cause the system crash. If you've ever used AVS, you would dumped others away.
Cons
User interface design a little bit professional. It might not operate easily without reading its manual guide.
Summary
With extremely comprehensive functions and beautiful user interface, You'd admire how excellent the AVS software are and surly enjoy using AVS.

"Quit looking. This product will fit the bill"
Version: AVS Video Converter 8.1.2.510
Pros
Easy to use and generally good results.
Cons
If things don't work right the first time, there may be a substantial learning curve. A few features are a little convoluted and unique in their design.
Cost is a little too high. For those spending a lot of time with vidoes manipulation, the cost is reasonable. For most of us this product is about $10 too high. -
