"Oh my Glob. What have I done?"

    February 13, 2015  |   By randallhodge

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.373

    Pros

None, other than you will have an annoying, insidious, and destructive "friend" living inside your computer.

    Cons

This program took a long time to install. It took the better part of the night to "tune up" my computer, which is only three months old. It disabled the very fine paid version of the Malwarebytes program without my permission or knowledge. It was difficult to get it working again. AVG PC TuneUp actually and noticeably slowed down my computer. How? ***? After the "tuneup," my computer was clunky and took forever to open up programs. I could not believe it, as I have been a loyal AVG anti virus customer for years. What's more, and much worse? It is impossible to uninstall this awful program. It takes over. It even prevented me from doing a system restore to a point BEFORE I installed AVG PC TuneUp. They knew what they were doing with this damned nuisance. When a program can jack with system restore, "you in danger, girl." I will pay whatever it takes to get this monster off my computer. I don't want to be reminded of this experience.

    Summary

AVG PC "TuneUp" should be called AVC PC EFFUp. You will feel bad for making the mistake of trying this ridiculous, useless, and damaging program.

To the person who designed this program. To all who were involved in conning people. YOU suck and all your stuff sucks. You dog sucks too.

    "Great All in one tool"

    February 7, 2015  |   By robBob57

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.238

    Pros

Been using for years. Great for optimizing a new PC or OS installation. Best is the start up and disable program optimization. Also the 1-click maintenance is a good feature. Clean-up feature is also nice. Saves time where tweaking is involved.

    Cons

Hands off from Turbo mode. It disables services that you really need from time to time. Then you end up googling for the problem only to read somewhere that something does not work due to turbo mode. So I never need or use it.
1-click crashes on my mini Compaq with windows 7 starter (blue screen) since I replaced the 1 gig ram with 2. Haven't figure out why yet. But is only a problem on this PC.
    Yearly upgrade is costly

    Summary

A real convenient time saver where tweaking and optimization is involved. Pity that yearly upgrades cost so much. But the new features are so few that one can live with a specific version for several years.

    "Useless at best"

    January 15, 2015  |   By piv27

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.238

    Pros

    Too easy to install.

    Cons

It is incredibly difficult to uninstall - the process is prolonged hoping you will change your mind. When my subscription ran out it spammed with with popup reminders that just irritated! precisely why I did not renew my subscription. The 30% discount after I tried to uninstall it was not impressive.

    Summary

Disappointed you have rated it so highly when it is clearly a rubbish product.

"I was a happy user of TuneUp Utilities. Not anymore."

    January 15, 2015  |

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.238

    Pros

    Nothing yet.

    Cons

I used TuneUp in past years to optimize my pc for gaming. Now it bumps me out of games. Exactly how are nagging pop ups going to optimize my pc? I paid for this and it's more annoying than free software.

    Summary

This version is a bloated, ramshackle pile of hot garbage. Don't pay for it. I wish I hadn't.

"Awful product! DO NOT BUY THIS!"

    December 18, 2014  |

    Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015

    Pros

    None at all.

    Cons

    1) Blocks your PC from booting up.
    2) Does nothing to improve computer functioning.
    3) Despite advertising a money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied, AVG will not give you a refund because they make up stories about how it's your computer's fault (they told me I had a virus, I didn't) and your fault (I was scolded for not cleaning up my computer, which is two months old) that their product does not work.

    Summary

I ran the AVG PC Tune Up program and it didn't seem to do much but my computer didn't really have any problems to begin with, I got the program because it was on sale and I thought it might keep my computer running smoothly going forward. I opted to use the AVG Disc Doctor. Disc Doctor is supposed to find errors on your C drive. It works by analyzing Windows before it starts.
The program requires a restart which I did. Prior to windows boot up, the program went to 10% and hung up there for over an hour. I restarted the computer several times and was unable to get past the disc analysis. There is a one second prompt that tells you to hit any key to get past the analysis but it never worked. I used another computer to look up online how to get around the Disc Doctor and it said that you have to press the space key when that one second prompt comes up. I was able to do this and logged in to my computer and immediately removed AVG PC tune up.
I called the number for AVG customer service (Guruaid) to get a refund. The level one tech remotely accessed my computer and told me that I had malware on my system that was preventing the AVG soft wear from working properly. I felt scolded when he said you have not cleaned up your computer for "a very long time." I informed him that my computer was 2 months old. He said that I still needed to do a clean up every 2 weeks. He said that for $100.00 he would "service my computer" remove the malware and several other unnecessary programs and reinstall the PC Tune up so that it would work properly. I said "No thank you."
I have had no indication that there is malware on my computer. I ran a scan with AVG Antivirus after I got off the phone with Guruaid and no problems were found. I bought AVG Tune Up because I figured it would help my PC continue to run well and it was on sale. Now I can't get my money back. $27 dollars spent, lesson well learned... buyer beware, glad I didn't pay full price. Usually I read reviews first but I chose to trust AVG since I like their antivirus program, not any more.

"Impossible to uninstall!!! this is MALWARE!"

    December 12, 2014  |   By gimpydwarf

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.238

    Pros

does what it says, but i did not notice any increase of performance.

    Cons

Cannot uninstall. constant pop up browser pages and reminders of how wonderful this crap is, even after you uninstall the program. For an antivirus company, this is inexcusable!

    Summary

    more crap you don't need.

    "1 word - MALICIOUS!"

    December 5, 2014  |   By RALFY313

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.238

    Pros

None that i see at all.

    Cons

This is one of those 'Obvious BS' Trojan, Virus & Bug etc hunter/detector, it will show up sometimes with over a thousand issues in your system & try to 'fix' them. A lot of the files it calls 'infected' are actually files you want, need & DON'T want removed by this, (also not even malicious files at all)! But unless you actually go through & read all files that are so called 'infected', which most people don't bother doing, they just trust the program & then find out what has been deleted when it 's too late!
***In That Case, Best Thing To Do Is A System Restore!!!*** (it will fix it all)!
& Make Sure You Uninstall it if it's still on your system after the restore!

    Summary

I really don't understand why both AVG & C-NET both support this program?!?
JUST DO YOURSELF A FAVOR & DON'T BOTHER WITH IT AT ALL!
It does the exact opposite of what it says!

"To me, it seemed more like a virus than a tuneup"

    November 28, 2014  |   By ps_artist

Version: AVG PC TuneUp 2015 15.0.1001.105

    Pros

    Negative....Joke.....harmful....beware!!!

    Cons

Worst software ever! Cannot decide if it is a virus or a tune up software does everything that a virus does.
    1) No tuneup I felt needed
    2) Deleted my important personal files without my knowledge or permission and cannot recover
    3) Messed up my windows restore point and other functions
    4) Cannot uninstall this ****** software
    5) Had to start my machine in safe mode, rename the avg folder, and uninstall it to stop it from taking over my machine.

    Summary

I thought AVG was a good company. Was even thinking of buying AVG antivirus to upgrade from trial. After tuneup experience, I do not trust this company. Never buy any of AVG and going to uninstall every AVG stuff.... I had put a star they wont let me comment otherwise, wish there was negative stars I would give -5..
