"Product is worse than the viruses it tries to prevent"
Pros: It is the right price, and supposedly it prevents computer from getting a virus
Cons: System resource hog, constantly trying to spawn new process, uses a ton of memory, pervasive disk swapping. Basically, I would rather catch a virus than put up with this product. At least my system would run faster.
Summary: I upgraded from 8.5 to 9.0. Immediately, my computer began to suffer degraded system performance. Even after disabling most of the functionality, avgchsvx.exe eats up memory. One of the nine avg processes that appear to run even when most of the p... read more

"Faster than 8.5 but crashes web pages using Ffox or IE."
Pros: Seems faster than previous version.
Cons: Doesn't let web pages load properly. Turned off "Surfshield" features but still doesn't work well. Have to click on a link multiple times to get a page to load, then still seems to block out some page formatting.
Summary: Going back to 8.5 if I can find it. This version is not ready for prime time. read more
