"Do not install - stay away -read on for how to remove"

    October 18, 2012  |   By bgates654321

It is a great way to slow down your computer to a crawl (or even virtually brick it.)

I upgraded to 2013 from 2012. I was using 2012 on several of my machines and thought that it would be good to switch. Worse decision that I could have made.

At first I did not know what was going on, my explorer kept crashing but explorer was not the problem. Then something seemed to be going on with my hard drive. which seemed to be damaged. After a scan things seemed to start and my machine would work for a little while. It turns out that the AVG updates were causing issues, my machine would freeze and I would reset (this only makes thigns worse. ) The failed updates were causing havoc with my hard drive. The failed updates were corrupting my hard drive. I can barely get my backup machine to work. to top it off you need AVG uninstaller to remove it. I'm still trying to get it off my mahcine. Oh and did I mention that I have to finish my MBA application. This thing has eaten up a week of my life that should have been spent polishing my application.

If I succeed in removing it, I will let the user community. but in teh meantime, the postive reviews are by shills, the negative reviews are by users. Stay very far away from this. Go with the alternatives, AVIRA or AVAST. Please do not use AVG, unless you are a maschoist, in which case, go for it.

Are you by chance using Windows XP?

That explains it!! My system slowed to a crawl during scans after installing AVG 2013, and eventually crashed altogether. After reading your experience, I realize it may be AVG itself that caused this. Terrible!!!
