This free AV is an exemplary balance of feature set,usability and outstanding protection. I've tried damn near all the free AVs out there, and on balance AVG is quite simply first rate.
Cons
Don't care for their Secure Search advertising campaign which is introduced via definitions updates.
Summary
This AV has been the constant target of vicious attacks of misinformation, ignorance and outright lies here on Cnet. AVG's superb protection speaks for itself in the many antivirus comparative test results where it always excels above the crowd. Don't take my word for it, google and read for yourselves.
For what you pay, and for what you get this AV is a winner! -

It does not seem to do anything and then there is the AVG "Safe search"= Annoyance.
Cons
Cons are the bastards that installed that dreaded AVG search, which is practically impossible to uninstall.
