but u do need a script checker if u want a complete package, wish it had that! i recommend trying it for yourselves. not bad

Scans your whole computer and scans certain Windows files to check if they have been changed. Also you can make it scan certain files on demand.

Fastest scan on any AV that I have ever tried! Detects more viruses than even PcCillin! Tiny download file.
Cons
I wouldn't recomend for a computer with less than 466 Megahertz processor

At the moment I am running on the full version of AVG 7.0 Professional and it is doing an outstanding job at fighting viruses and dececting them. The tech support is at an acceptable level but it's pretty easy to navigate around if you're just looking to scan a few things on your computer. The trial version gives you a good amount of time to get to know the product aswell as test it however there could be a bit more features added to the trial of avg pro. Also, this includes an email scanner and instant messenger scanner which are two main things usually everybody uses.
Cons
First off is the skin. I think there should either be a choice of what you want it to look like or choose a totally different skin. It's just way too basic and ugly. Grey just isn't my thing. Dosen't do script blocking. The phone support isn't toll-free. Dosen't support Macintosh. All on all, very good product and I recommend the download and buy of it.

Try to download some virus like "00001.exe" and avg won't detect it. Avast won't too. 2 bad antivirus. Get real protection with the big companys: kaspersky/trendmicro and Mcafee. This is a joke, as an antivirus.
oh and the interface is hard to understand and the worst i ever saw. I could never ever let Avg protecting my on-line surfing. I'm paranoid with security, believe me , you don't want this antivirus

Detecting rate not high enough, if u want to buy go with kaspersky antivirus/avast pro, oh no need u can get the good one for free, try antivir/avast free edition, both of these are better than avg, no matter free or pro edition.

Multi-language application. Cheap.
Cons
Even with 500MB memory, it slows down my computer while scanning so much, that all I can do is to go and have a lunch...
It also detects many applications that are certainly not viruses or other malware

1. MUCH faster than Norton AV, especially on my Pentium 3 700 w/ Windows XP.
2. Virus updates are quick and easy (no more waiting for long downloads and then having to reboot and grab more updates) and the virus scan barely slows down my system. AVG even found a virus that Norton had missed!
3. Pretty sure AVG also takes up less physical memory.
4. It's cheap!
Cons
The interface could really use some work. It actually took me a long time to figure out how to run a virus scan, schedule updates, and manage my quarantine. These things were always intuitive with Norton. Hopefully Grisoft can work on this one admittedly minor flaw.

VERY LOW SYSTEM RESOURCES USAGE COMPARED WITH THE ANCIENT MCAFEE AND NORTON. I DOWNLOADED A P2P VIRUS AND AVAST PRO JUST SAT BY WHILE IT STARTED TO EAT AWAY AT MY EXE. FILES. DOWNLOADED AVG PRO AND IT PICKED UP ON IT AND REMOVED IT QUICKLY!! FAST AND FREQUENT NO BALONEY DOWNLOADS. I HAD THE FREE EDITION BUT LIKED THE PROGRAM SO MUCH THAT I PURCHASED THE PRO. MORE CONTROL AND OPTIONS THEN THE FREE EDITION.

UGLY INTERFACE, CANT THEY DO BETTER?! DOESN'T DETECT ZIPPED FILES WITH VIRUSES TILL YOU TRY TO OPEN THEM??!! NO AUTOMATIC UPDATES.......JUST LETS YOU KNOW WHEN A UPDATE IS ADVAILIBLE. SLOW SCANNING TIME, STILL FASTER THEN MOST THOUGH.
