Except for one incident, this is the best anti-virus software. And it's free! I can't believe it! I was riddled with viruses/Trojans and had Norton Anti-Virus 2003. For free software, I am amazed, AVG found many many viruses that Norton didn't. I also tried the free on-line scans that Panda, McAfee and Trend Micro offer. In those 3 cases, AVG found viruses/Trojans that the online scans didn't and the reverse was not true. However, there was one virus that Norton found but AVG didn't, which was a little disappointing. But it still means it beat out the other (paid) software. Don't waste your money on anti-virus software, this is at least as good as the "big boys". You can always use the free online scans that Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro and Panda offer to see how they do against this product. More often than not, AVG is equal or superior. One final note, if you run the "security check" program offered on Symantec's (Norton) website, it will say "no virus protection" if you are using this product. Please ignore that, it is fine, in fact, even Microsoft Windows XP SP2's Security Center recognizes the AVG software when it evaluates the level of your PC's protection. I'm sure Norton does that to try and convince you you need their product. The best things really can be free! Download and no worries

I had a virus a trojan that effect 3 files i used to other anti virus protection programs that detected yet could not remove it. fix it utilities and defender pro anti virus. i ran avg once and poof it detected and fixed the issue i am back up and running i expected i was going to have to ghost this computer

if you like viruses then do not use this to detect or fix them. there are no cons i entend to buy this program

This product is excellent! It searches for viruses quickly and efficiently, it searches through all the folders on your computer and either deletes the virus or sends it to a secure folder. If you dont know whether you have a virus or not this is the program for you!
Cons
Unfortunately the trial period is only 30 days which is not too good, but i suppose it just means you have to download it once a month!

I had some other anti virus like Norton & McAfee witch did not get all my viruses but Avg got all the viruses and I have had no more virus.

I'm still on the free trial, but plan to buy at the end of the trial. Easy and fast download and installation. Simple and direct operation -- and does NOT slow down my computer and is relatively non-intrusive, as McAfee did. Works with my preferred browser, Firefox. Frequent, easy updates.
Cons
Have to reconfigure email filter everytime I reboot or boot up. I'm probably doing something wrong, but haven't yet figured out what. Just a minor inconvenience. It takes only a few seconds.
