Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.0.176
"A wonderful and free piece of software..."
Pros: Great virus protection. Nearly daily updates to keep your virus identifier up to date. Never had a virus with this installed.
Cons: Doesn't off as much protection as the virust protection you have to pay a lot of money for. Sometimes have to download update manually to update. Takes a few minutes.
Summary: It does a great job at protecting you from viruses. One thing though of course it doesn't have spam protection, and active things like that. That being said, it is very easy to adjust your habits to avoid issues all together. Don't click on pop ups, don't open email with funny subject lines from people you don't know or from people you DO know but with a strange attachment... If you use P2P scan it for viruses before you open or play the file. Don't go to a site that has been Identified as dangerous. AVG free has a great new thing that tells you to stop before going to a bad virus filled website. That is a great feature. I've used it for years now and recommend it whole heartedly! Friends that get viruses aren't using this software. But now they are!
