Summary
No active defense like Avast. Didn't want AVG (tried once and it was CRAP) but it came with the PC. I Installed Avast and then used Ad-remove programs to removed AVG. AVG's software went through the motions & said it uninstalled BUT it left big pieces on my PC & when I tried to use Ad-remove again it swears it's gone so............

That its free and doesnt bog down the system (most of the times)
Cons
Scanning repeatedly (even the folder in which the virus was - after i found out whats the cause) didnt give any results. Then I did a scan with NOD32 (online/free scan) and it immediately found and fixed the issue.
