"Best Free Anti-Virus"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.4
Pros
Finally the interface is updated. The layout is more XP looking which makes it look great. I have been using AVG free for over a year and have had no problems, it detects, removes with ease. There are no stupid pop-ups telling you to pay for the pro version or anything. Definitons are updated almost every day to give you the latest protection. It's effective, easy to use and is 100% free.

"Great Protection, With NO Price"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.4
Pros
Great program, free updates issued almost every day, instant recognition of viruses, fast easy removal, doesn't use much memory at all and is very stable.
Cons
When it is running an active scan (which you can easily set when it updates and scans, or do a manual update & scan whenever..), the system can slow down a little bit. However, not much.

"The best "free" antivirus program I've used."
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.4
Pros
This program does a decent job at protecting you from viruses. I recommend it to anyone not willing or able to pay for better security. I would say that it should protect you from about 90% of what's out there.

"Obviously it's Free, but it works.....And very well !!"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.4
Pros
Seeing as I am number 1177 in the user reviews, I can be as free with my take on this anti virus as I want to be.
I've used AVG for many years now; starting with version 6.0. Then I was offered McAFFee, or how it is spelled, for a nominal price each month. As I am with AOL, I decided to use this anti-virus system and dispense with AVG for a trial period. Within a week of not using AVG, my pc became infected with an old virus. Now, whether it was pure coincidence,my computer slowed down to a grunt speed and because AVG is free I decided to re-download the software. Whereupon, on first detect, there within my computer was a virus! Pleasingly, the system put the virus in the vault, and as I understand it, over wrote the virus so that it could not re-infect my computer.
Brilliant or what????
Cons
I am technothick, so if there are cons with this system I will leave it for the anoraks to suss these out.

"Works great, FREE"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.5.4
Pros
It does a great job. I deleted my Cox internet security after tring AVG for a couple weeks. My start-up time is now much quicker, e-mail is scanned in and out, and everything else you need is already built into XP---Firewall-Popup-Windows defender. So why pay $70 for a Security Suite that slows down your computer.
Cons
Makes me feel foolish that I payed $70 for my wifes Norton security suite. Not next year
