Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.289
"A free Antivirus that works! All computers should have this..."
Pros: This competent virus scanner has just about everything covered an antivirus could ask for.
Cons: Graphic User interface is low, some novice users will get confused with gui,
The program does lack some reporting tools and help files that could make it easier for novice users but all in all is a great product.

Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.289
Pros: i came over from avg 6.0 pretty good but two much of a hassle trying to update, and a little slow on scanning, now, this version is great, it is by far better the Norton and McAfee, which both are system resource hogs, AVG downloads in a snap, no more email activation just to set up, after which, yes, you want to register it online. AVG deep scans, or fast scans which ever you want, the interface is nice and to the point resulting in ease of preferred set up, it alerts immediately when or if one is found either already on the system or snuck in, great for worms, and malware. unlike the older 6.0 version, this one scans in safe mode and updates are quicker and more automated. it set itself by default to scan silently at windows start up, and again, unlike Norton or McAfee, dose not slow the system to a crawl as it does. Great email protection with Outlook Express, or my choice, Thunderbird by Mozilla. It is a fully functional, COMPLETELY FREE AntiVirus protection, no more having to pay outrageous prices for shotty symantec or mcafee products which, again, slow the system to a crawl, and are both easily disabled by most viril and malware, end resulting in having to uninstall them and reinstall them, IF that works in the first place, and if you choose to switch to lets say Avast!, uninstalling AVG is no problem whatsoever, it leaves peacefully and happily without leaving major remnants of it or taking half your system down with its departure. kudos to Grifsoft and CNET for great products and software. oh and btw, there is online support for the free version of AVG now....
Cons: the deep scans are a little slow and the logs are not all to user friendly if you are not familar with system processes, as it does not provide enough info on where exactly an infection is, and does not let you know when certain files cannot be read or are protected until after the scan is complete.

Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.289
Pros: *free and works
*virus definition updates frequently
*other components of program updated often
*scans email POP3 access with email scanner
*somewhat quick when performing scanning tests
Cons: *Update tool, sometimes have problems connecting to their server to retrieve updates or even check for updates
*With version 6, it was a little less bloated, and you could change the server url of which to get updates from such as ftp.grisoft.com, grisoft.cz. That function is only available now in the Professional version which costs $.
Really, the only issue I've had is the update tool, although you can perform it manually by downloading the updates from the Grisoft website.
