"This version incompatible with Spybot Search & Destroy."

    November 24, 2011  |   By artiplier

It's free and I have never had any issues with it till now...

AVG Anti-virus Free Edition 2012 became corrupted, causing Windows XP (yes, I still have it on one computer) to freeze upon loading to the desktop.

I've been using AVG free for years, and never had any problems other than the system resource hogging. While I have used it alongside Spybot Search and Destroy for years as well, unfortunately the free 2012 edition was corrupted somehow...a web search indicated spybot flags it and removes some files? Anyways, booted into safe mode and uninstalled AVG, computer is back up and running smoothly. May try reinstalling 2012 at a later point.

    Hello artiplier,

Could you please discuss this situation with us at CNET AVG Forum or AVG Forums? Please be informed that it is not recommended to run two active (resident) protections together because of possible conflicts or unstable operating system (slowdown, crash). Please try to disable the real-time protection from SpyBot (TeaTimer.exe) and run just manual scans time-to-time.

    Thank you
