"Great for freezing my computer"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012 2012.0.2195
Pros
- Seemed to scan for viruses fine
- I didn't have any viruses, so that's good I guess...Cons
- AVG caused my computer (windows 7) to consistently freeze within 10 minutes of start up
- I had to uninstall AVG for my computer to function
- That really pisses me off.Summary
I had to remove this program from my computer immediately due to the fact that it was causing freezes constantly and consistently. I guess making a computer unusable is one way of protecting it from viruses...

"If you want free, doesn't get better than THIS!"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012 2012.0.2195
Pros
It does exactly what it says it will, and the reviews from CNET and other users are spot-on. In fact, I have purchased licenses for these types of programs for years. The interface is easy and user-friendly and the diagnostics are fast and very thorough.
Cons
None, really, I just prefer Avast over this.
Summary
WORD OF CAUTION: I am looking at backing up all my stuff and re-installing my OS, and I am NOT HAPPY about it. My system isn't even 3 years old. My netbook is so jacked that I can't even log into Windows even in safe mode. I have learned my lesson. ALL YOU NEED IS ONE AND ONLY ONE GOOD ANTIVIRUS (not McAfee) AND THAT IS IT! USING MORE THAN ONE AV PROGRAM AT A TIME CAN HARM YOUR SYSTEM IRREPARABLY! My trusted online computer expert told me that in addition to only needing ONE AV program, he believes strongly that programs that promise to "OPTIMIZE", "CLEAN", or "BOOST" -- CAN ALSO HARM YOUR REGISTRY IRREPARABLY!!

"great a/v with outstanding protection"
Version: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2012 2012.0.2195
Pros
I use a laptop and this a/v has never slowed me down once. Do not believe the negative hype you read about avg the vast majority of them are from avast d!c riders with no clue or hobby but to sit online and sit on this site. this antivirus has outstanding review and the most recent lab test scores on avtest.org show avg is way ahead of any free a/v on the market including avast. The numbers dont lie go see them for yourself.
Cons
none the only con is the annoying and immature people who have sexual fantasies about other free a/v's and come on this page to bad mouth a program AVG that has far superior lab results then any other free a/v on the market. avtest.org the numbers speak for themselves people.
