"Saved me from reformatting my PC - Great Product!"

    May 30, 2011  |   By lee209

The Anti-Roolkit scan resolved problems I encountered on reboot, "MBR:\\.\PHYSICALDRIVEO" and "\\.\PHYSICALDRIVEO MBR:TDL4". Amazingly with Free Edition, I received courteous free phone support. Almost unheard in these days.

    The Anti-Roolkit scan

My PC became corrupted after installing AVG 2011, without uninstalling AVG 8.5 first! I've successfully used AVG for years. I retried unsuccessfully to uninstall both & reload AVG 2011. I was getting NO Anti-Virus protection.

My PC became corrupted after installing AVG Free Edition 2011, in Jan. 2011, without uninstalling AVG 8.5 first! I retried to uninstall both & reload AVG 2011, to no success. Footprints had been left. I was getting no Anti-Virus protection. I installed AVAST & every time I launched it or rebooted, these 2 errors appeared, MBR:\\.\PHYSICALDRIVEO and \\.\PHYSICALDRIVEO MBR:TDL4.

I was unable for about 4 months to resolve this issue & was going to reformat my PC. I utilized a great piece of software, Advanced System Care 4.0 to clean my PC & improve performance. It was daunting for not being a computer system wizard trying to follow the instructions for the Malware Removal.

Bottom line as a last ditch effort, I reinstalled AVG 2011 & caught those to 2 errors via the Anti-Roolkit scan!! Another great software!

Wanted to pass on others how they may resolve these problems & have Anti-Virus protection!

The anti-rootkit scan was a nightmare for me, AVG said that the Norton GoBack was a Malware...well after the scan and reboot my computer went into a loop around non stop.......lucky for me I had GoBack with some restore info and I got my computer back. I took out the anti-root scan which no longer runs and no more problems now. But all programs have conflicting software you just have to find them and work to get rid of the problem, and sometimes you can't and you end up at the computer repair shop or you can get the program that you just installed uninstalled. Glad you were able to get one of the best antivirus programs on your computer AVG 2011, but you are one of a very few that would go for 4 months to resolve the issue. I had a lot of problems with Avira, Avast & AVG 2011 and AVG 2011 was the WORST. I uninstalled AVG and could not get it installed I tried everything, install something else and then months later try again and then in 2 days I had AVG 2011 installed....have dial up.
