"Had bad effect on both my computers"

    May 12, 2011  |   By howardferns

Used AVG Free for some time, since version 9 I think. It provided the most effective AV cover I've had to date, very little ever got through, thats why I've given 2 stars.

Auto updates slow pc down so you can't do anything till its finished. My web pages started slowing, Yahoo mail crashed because of an add-on (but that was cured with an update), Gmail crawled - but see Summary below for what it did to my netbook.

I got a netbook in December 2009, installed AVG Free on it because thats what I had on desktop pc. Wireless connection continually dropping out, 3 times in 10 minutes not unusual, and I blamed my BT modem. The problems in Cons, above, made me try another AV. AVG wouldn't uninstall from either computer, I had to use 3rd party software to get it out. Then I installed Avast Free, and not only were the above problems solved, but surprise, surprise, my netbook stays connected all the time now. I put up with it for 16 months, if only I'd known sooner that AVG was the cause!

Gold Dust do you have some kind of problem with other people opinions. If they don't like the product then they move on. Get this through your head, not every one is going to like AVG. To keep saying its the best is the furthest thing from the truth. There is no such thing as the best when it comes to security software, period!

Another thing, seriously stop knocking Avast. It clearly shows you have little knowledge of the product, and no facts to back it up. What you're personnel experience? I've seen your reviews, and many of them are flawed.

Finally stop harassing people just because you got some weird fanboy obsession with AVG. Bottom line is, knock off it, and know your place.

AVG Is One Of The Best Antivirus AVG Is Rated Number Two In The June 2011 Consumer Reports Magazine, Avira Is Rated Number One. I Do Not Believe That This Review Is 100% True!!!

I see that you reply to everyone who gives a negative review.
Do you think I want any more to do with avg after my experience?
You can sort your problems out on your own, mate.
