"Miracle worker!"
Version: ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair 1.82
Pros
This did the job when nothing else would.
Cons
None known at this time.
Summary
I was in the middle of rendering an .AVI file. So far, it has been rendering for DAYS. At 2 GB size, it got corrupt and I could not continue rendering. I thought maybe if I could fix the .AVI file, it would continue to render. I tried all the other .AVI fix programs here and none of them fixed it. This one fixed the 2GB .AVI file!!! Not only that, when I set my program to continue the render, it worked...saving me a LOT of time. The program doesn't cliam to work with Vista, but I used it with Vista...just remember to install as administrator and run the program as administrator.

"I'm not impressed"
Version: ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair 1.82
Pros
You get to try it for free for only 10 days, thankfully :)
Cons
It failed to repair a 698MB avi on Advanced mode.
It failed to repair the Repaired file.
It failed to repair that Repaired file in Fast Mode.
Then it failed to repair that Repaired file too.
In 10 days time Repair Video Inc want $35 from me- haha.Summary
It didn't repair the broken avi.
And it didn't repair the allegedly Repaired file either.
Thankfully VideoLAN's VLC player temporarily repairs files and it played fine (just as it did prior to any attempted repair with Repair Video Inc's $35 worth of failed repair attempts).
Bottom line - don't waste your time or cash. -
"works great!"
Version: ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair 1.82
Pros
I apparently had a corrputed memory card in my camera. This program was able to save most of the files! It didn't fix all of them, but I'm much happier now!
Cons
It did some screwy things like re-wrap a video file to fill the space (including the same section over and over), but only did this once.

"Finally one that actually does what it promises!"
Version: ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair 1.82
Pros
ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair wasn't the first 'video fixer' I tried, but it's the only one that succeeded - where others failed miserably.
Whilst backing up some video files I was left with one 700mb *.avi (DivX) file I couldn't even copy, let alone play. Even the superb Videolan VLC player - usually able to play anything and everything - couldn't handle it anymore.
I tried 'DivX Repair' which said it fixed the file but actually did nothing to improve it (as is often the case with that tool). Next I tried 'Dema DivFix' which couldn't even open the file. Nothing else seemed to work either, until I found this little gem, which repaired my file (in 'fast mode' no less!) without complaining!
Indeed, it doesn't give you many choices to specify, except 'fast mode' or 'advanced mode' to repair files, but it automatically creates a duplicate file (with 'repair' added to the end of the filemane) in the same folder. And personally I rather have a simple tool that works than an elaborate one that doesnt... Moreover, the simple interface is pretty user friendly and dead easy to work with.
I'm glad I decided to (finally) give this tool a try as well, at the point where I was ready to accept I'd permanently lost the first half of a two part film. Instead of missing out on the first half I can now watch the entire feature!
I'm also very glad to see a trial version that's fully functional - instead of the crappy '30 second only' SW that many others offer (which is useless and not even worth downloading IMO). At least this one allows you to do some real work, which is generous (and how it's supposed to be IMO if you want to try new software).
If you care about your (broken) video files, give this one a try. I'm VERY glad I did... :-)
Cons
The price seems a bit on the high side, given the fact that most people probably won't (have to) use it all that much. However, for (semi) professionals who have great numbers of video files it's a great little tool. Eventhough I'm not a pro in this field I'll probably decide to buy it anyway.

"Worked great to repair an AVI file."
Version: ASF-AVI-RM-WMV Repair 1.82
Pros
I recovered a deleted AVI file from an SD RAM card used by a Canon Powershot but the file would not play. This utility repaired the file and made it playable. There seems to be a section in the middle of the AVI that is missing, probably by a photo being written onto the card after the AVI had been deleted. This program seems to have patched the two halves together and the AVI is now playable. Very cool that it is free for 10 days as well. Will probalby purchase for future repairs.
Cons
Fast repair did not work but Advanced repair option worked great.
