"Good stuff"
Version: AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 98/ME 5.9.3
Pros
Most people use it. Fast. Updated quickly. FREE.

Some viruses/worms/trojans can get through, and make you, yourself, send links with the same malware to others... I've had friends have this happen, but my antivirus caught it and stopped it from installing... BE CAREFUL...

"My main messenging program"
Version: AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 98/ME 5.9.3
Pros
AIM has been around for who knows how long. Long enough for me to have it on every single computer i've had. It's been my favorite program to use since it has a nice interface with easy to use controls and personalization. Profiles, buddy icons, this program sports what you need to keep in touch with your friends.
Cons
Annoying little mouse over pop up ads. Easily combat it with an ad remover, just search the internet. The new trillion is bad, puts a lot of unwanted AOL spyware type programs that slows your computer down with a chunky process. Stay with the old 5 version of AIM, classic, easy, and just plain right.

"I'd like to get free MSN winks and emoticons from msncontentplus.com"
Version: AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 98/ME 5.9.3
Pros
The program is good.
Cons
It has no Art content. It is just a tool. I suggest to install MSN Messenger and download MSN Winks, MSN Emoticons, MSN Avatars Creator from msncontentplus.com . It is really full of art designs.

"A good IM program to use"
Version: AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 98/ME 5.9.3
Pros
This is a good IM program to use. It has just what any IM program could have. It has smilies/emoticons, icons, backgrounds, personal profile, and information on each person you have on your list. Most people have AIM, so its a one you should get. I recommend this download.
Cons
It makes my computer a bit slow. But only when users sign on and off when that window appears at the bottom. But you can turn that off and its fine.

"Comes with Spyware! BEWARE!"
Version: AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 98/ME 5.9.3
Pros
Fairly easy to use.
Cons
Horrific at sending attachments. It is also full of spyware as it comes bundled (you have no choice about this) with Viewpoint Media Player (I know it looks like it is Microsoft's version but it is not). That's not all, they also put the following spyware on your system: WeatherBug, Wild Tangent, MySearch Bar, AIM Toolbar, Browser Hijacks, and Popups. Check out Google with keywords SPYWARE and AIM for further info. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. It is from AOL who are notorious for poor customer support. Some big organisations used to use programs like this for internal communication, and one big one for whom I worked has recently ditched it after many years in favour of Microsoft's IM. Although not a big Microsoft fan, I can't stand AOL.
