"This program is not for professionals"

    December 27, 2011  |   By silverfox4646

    Version: ACDSee Pro 5 5.1.137.0

    Pros

When the program works it is a dream.
Does lots of things that makes the work flow easy
    Easy to learn

    Cons

I had 1800 character so I will cut it down to this
Program crashes and locks up all the time
I am a pro and have the latest computers 16 gigs of ram huge storage and fast vidio card.
You can not get customer service on the phone and it took them 2 days to get back to me with their same old answer take the program off and reload it. They make you feel like your are the only one to have these problems until I went to a workshop or convention and found out everyone was having the same problem of crashing and locking up. I have used the product from pro 3 and just don't have to have to go through the learning curve with a new program. Plus I keep thinking they must have fixed these really bad problems in the newer version only to find out I was wrong. Now I am thinking they would have to do to much back tracking to fix it so they can't at this point as it would cost to much so they keep hoping they sell it to newbee with out much demand for large files of 3 to 3 hundred images.

    Summary

If you can put up with the crashing, locking up frustration of never speaking to a customer service person and don't mind being treated like a mushroom --kept in the dark and fed a bunch of poop You will probable love the program as I said if it worked as it is sold it would be wonderful but that has not been my experience and I have had the program from Pro 2 and bought all the newer versions and the older programs worked better as they were simpler and not trying to do everyithing. But like a fool I keep buying the newest, thinking; in this version they muct have solved these very bad problems of crashing and locking up just to find out no the are still in the program and get pissed at my self but I know the program so well I just don't want to have to go through a new learning cruve with a new program. however If I was starting from scratch I would go to ADOBE LIGHTROOM from the start.

    "Easy to Use; Intuitive; Powerful"

    November 9, 2011  |   By mindsci

    Version: ACDSee Pro 5 5.0.110.0

    Pros

I got hooked on ACDSee Pro 2.
Features like the "Light EQ" and now the "Color EQ" in ACDSee Pro 5, make enhancing Digital Photos so easy, intuitive, and fun.
The "Sharpening" and "Shadow" adjustments are exceptional too.
With ACDSee Pro 5 I can completely process a Digital Picture into a Publishing Quality Masterwork within minutes. ACDSee Pro 5 is much more intuitive than any other Photo Processing Software that I have tried.

    Cons

It does not have all the Bells, Whistles, and Gimmicks of other Photo Software.

    Summary

ACDSee Pro 5 is so Powerful and well designed that anyone can be creating Professional Quality Photography in less than 30 minutes just by playing around with it. There is no need to buy a "The Unofficial Guide" book for this software- can't say that for CS6! ACD's support on their web site is good too and clearly and quickly explains this softwares numerous features.

    "Powerful and Intuitive."

    October 4, 2011  |   By SoundPepper

    Version: ACDSee Pro 5 5.0.110.0

    Pros

Great workflow design. Powerful editing features. Easy sharing with FB, smugmug, etc. Reasonably priced.

    Cons

    Crashes occasionally.

    Summary

I bought Lightroom, but didn't like the experience, especially the organizational scheme. It just didn't flow for me. Switched to ACDSee pro3 and have been with it ever since. I have about 20,000 images in it now and every year I value it's ease of use and power more than ever. Great product.

"NOT as ADVERTIZED a TOTAL DISSAPOINTMENT"

    September 14, 2011  |   By scottkaf68

    Version: ACDSee Pro 5 4.0.237

    Pros

easy to use WHEN it works

    Cons

crashes, freezes, LOUSEY customer service, NOT professional, does not live up to promises (see below)

    Summary

DO NOT BE FOOLED this software is a joke & cust service is non existent, recently I was working huge job and again acdsee 3 had "issues" when I moved files to another folder they corrupted and dissapeared, so in desperation I updated to "4" well it's really no better, crashes and freezes if you make it do any heavy lifting. I have an i7 960, 2 GB dedicated HD video card, 1.5 TB hard drive and 18GB of ram and their automated system tells me to upgrade my computer??? You cannot speak to a human, and tech support is ARROGANT and took a week to get back to me by email which is useless. If you are a dabbler and don't care about losing your stuff give it a shot it is cheap ish...
you get what you pay for & this software cannot keep up to professional standards and totally let me down as did the PATHETIC customer service! Buy ANYTHING else!!

""Brilliant" I would'nt use anything else,"

    January 23, 2011  |   By colin2720

    Version: ACDSee Pro 5 3.0 build 475

    Pros

Very easy to use , with lots of bells and whistles built in,
It will do just about anything the average photographer will need, and looks good too.

    Cons

Unless I am missing a trick it's a long way round to get to the editing arena, but I can live with that as it could be a safety net.

    "Quite good."

    January 18, 2011  |   By KevinD54

    Version: ACDSee Pro 5 3.0 build 475

    Pros

    Opening images is really fast.

    Cons

Crashed several times on my Vista laptop.

    Summary

The software is good but the interface is quite messy. I bought it last year and it worked great on my XP PC but not on my Vista laptop. It crashed several times and i also lost lots of data. I've stopped using it. But i found a great and free alternative - Kestrel GX.

Overall ACDSee is a good software when it works. The developers should really work on the interface to make it more user friendly.
