A Better Finder Rename for Mac helps you keep your files organized by adding custom extensions, numbers, or other identifying text to the file name. Through its intuitive interface, you can quickly add files you want to rename and then choose the customization settings that suit your purposes.
Tons of options: Options for adjusting file names through this program are almost endless. They include inserting text and sequence numbers, truncation, date and time insertion, or even adding path components, tags, and more. You can also specify where to insert the chosen item or what to replace, so all file names come out exactly the way you want them to.
Instant preview: On one side of the working window in this program, you can see the original names of the files you've added. On the other side, you'll see a preview of the new file names, and these update each time you make an adjustment. That way, you can tweak the file names for as long as you want to get them right without making any permanent changes until you're sure you have what you want.
Trial limitations: The trial version of this software only allows you to work in batches of up to ten files at a time. While this is great for giving you a feel for the interface and how the options work, it doesn't let you test out how well the program can handle large batches of files, which may be more of a concern to some users than others.
A Better Finder Rename is a flexible and convenient tool for renaming files and keeping your computer organized. It offers all of the options you need to customize your file names fully, and it runs quickly and smoothly, overall. You can use the trial version indefinitely as long as you're OK with working in batches of ten or fewer files, and unlocking the full version costs $19.95.

What's new in this version:
Version 10.11 fixes a crashing bug in the preview pane.
i needed to get rid of leading track numbers and a handful of other things. This helped me organize my entire library! Pretty simple to use. Did the job.
Takes a while as you can only do 10 files at a time!! and it tells you EVERY TIME that you should be upgrading, i know this pls stahp.... Changes the homepage on your browser (shocker...) installs JustCloud which is extremely annoying and useless but on the install page it gives you a CHOICE, i didn't know i had one as it made it seem necessary for the app. Price is too high...
Would I recommend this program? Yes, absolutely and although there are a lot of cons, it is to be expected with a free application as it is how they are funded, unfortunately by malware. It still did the job and in less time than it would take me to do it one by one.. 10/10 would use again.
I couldn't say, since I was distracted by the malware meltdown of 2013.
Um, MALWARE. Suddenly, I have Yahoo! as my default search engine on Firefox and Chrome, all kinds of Ebay and Amazon extensions on both browsers. Oh, and a couple of applications that I can't delete. And this on my Mac!
I've used CNET for years to download programs. It's supposed to be safe. I even went through (albeit unintentionally) the CNET installer. What. The. Heck.
The reply I gave to you might not work on this app as they didn't have the windows for installing to allow you to do what I was telling you to do. So, I just downloaded it and saw that and will see if I get all that junk too.
Always do the installing yourself on CNET because CBS will want to add all that junk to your download. You will see several windows come up as you're installing. On each window look at it carefully there will be something they want to add on. On the bottom left of each of those you may see "Decline", click Decline and it will go to another window and look at it carefully to see if it also has Decline, click Decline and so on. Then there may be ones with "Skip" on it, click Skip, then also there may be a choice in the middle of some of these install windows asking if you want it to install something "Regular" or "Normal" and below will say "Customize", check mark Customize then uncheck the checkmarks it adds. As you are trying to get through this jungle of windows you will finally get to the one that you want where you can click on the actual install button on the bottom right, then it should do what you expect it to do and you will get to install just the app you wanted.
Same author for Mac & PC versions. Both have been around for years. Both have been constantly update. Quick, Flawless, Can handle any of your renaming needs. When you need it... There is nothing better than either one of these "Better" products.
The only one I can think of is me.... Better Finder Rename is used to correct my file naming mistakes or to improve on existing ones.
I'm not sure how long I have used this utility but it must be 12 to 15 years and they have never let me down.
I've used A Better Finder Rename for years. It is almost perfect in all the things it can do and saves you alot of time during renaming, serial renaming, etc. The only thing I wish it did that a previous version did is allow you to rename individual files one at a time.
Can't, in my hands, rename individual files one at a time. Author is supposed to be working a way to do this.
