  "Hosed up my system"

  Pros

  I love Adware's ability to find adware that other programs don't. The old program did exactly what I needed it to, now it's useless and I paid for it 2 mos. ago.

  Cons

  If you have another antivirus program, it will totally hose your system and you can't turn off the antivirus portion, only turn off the real-time protection and each individual other options. I already have a paid antivirus program and I'm not getting rid of it any time soon.

  Summary

  I only need the adware ability not the antivirus so now the program is useless to me.

  I have installed Ad-aware 10 on my machine which is already running Avira Premium 2012, Webroot Security Anywhere AND Windows Defender, and it's working well for me ! I think you should consider changing the other Anti-virus program you have ... it might be the one that's "hosing" your system.
  Ad-aware 10 also has Anti-Virus and impressive URL filtering (I tested on MDL (malwaredomainlist) and it squashes same day virus and other malware). Maybe the ONLY one you need IS Ad-aware 10 ! Just saying :-)

  Spot on. In the past, you would use Ad-Aware in concert with a full anti-virus. However, as Ad-Aware has expanded the scope of their product, you can no longer do this. It will cause SERIOUS conflicts with an existing anti-virus present on your system. And I doubt Ad-Aware has made large enough strides to be used as a standalone anti-virus solution, so I would stay clear of this.
