"Best Parental Control Software out there!"

    January 26, 2011  |   By victor-bailey

    Pros

Easy to use. Great protection against adult and other undesired internet content. Very hard to subvert.

    Cons

None really, but since this software is designed to keep people from subverting it, it is almost impossible to get rid of it once you install it. Not really a con since that is what it is designed to do.

    Summary

This program has improved much over the past couple of years and I am not afraid to say that it is one of the best I have tried. I paid $125 (annual fee) for webwatcher for my son's computer. It is an okay program, but after you pay the outrageous fee for their service, you find out that the most useful features you really want are trials and you have to pay hefty additional monthly fees to keep them. Their basic service offers about the same thing as K9 and in my experience, K9 is harder to subvert. K9 appears to be engineered by people who genuinely care about protecting children, where as webwatcher is clearly made by people who have making money as their primary goal. When webwatcher starts nickel and dimeing you to death you will see what I mean.

The bottom line is this. The internet is an extremely dangerous place and if you are a parent and care about your kids, you should have K9 on ever computer in your house at the bare minimum. If you are an adult struggling with a life destroying porn addiction you should have this on every computer you own. It's free and it could save your child's mind and your as well.
