"Nero 9 has a new installer that doesn't work well."

    November 21, 2009  |   By bennettpb

    Pros

Previous versions have a nice interface, seems to be pretty intuitive in use in early versions and works well.

    Cons

Could not install Nero 9 express that came with my new DVD R.
9 has a new installer which found a problem with my XP registry and bailed out without installing.

    Summary

    New Nero installer is crap.
Too fussy about the exact state of the PC that it is being installed on.
Nero's web site has no obvious way to give feedback.
    Old Nero installer works.
    My PC works fine.
My CD recorder started messing up so I replaced it with a new drive that included Nero 9 Express, and a bunch of other software that I didn't want.
The Nero 9 installer gave me a prompt, COULD NOT FIND PICTURES FOLDER, or something like that.
A Google search returned results that said my registry had problems and several possible solutions.
Instead of taking hours trying to fix my registry I installed an older version of Nero Express and the old installer worked fine.
I am so tired of "improvements" that aren't.
