"Ap can halt use of your computer"
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Warning: GmailStatus can turn into a nighmare. I used the application without problems for a month or so. Then, Tuesday, I got a message saying an update was available. I gave permission for the update to be installed. Afterward, a window kept popping up asking to access my keychain. Whether I said yes or no, the message window still popped up every five or ten minutes. It interrupted anything I was doing, including trying to watch a DVD and browsing the Web. Eventually, the GmailStatus window grabbed the foremost position on the screen and prevented me from doing anything else at all. There was no getting behind it to access the Finder for a forced quit, so I had to shut down and restart with extensions off. I deleted GmailStatus afterward.
I realize the application has a perfect rating. But, that can be misleading. Ofen, disgusted people don't go through the hassle of posting a complaint. I had to rejoin Version Tracker (couldn't recall my old password) just to do this. I consider the inconvenience worth it to save other people the nightmare I experienced with GmailStatus.
