"Ok for those who don't do much with email"

    April 16, 2009  |   By DatabaseDoctor

Easy to use, easy to setup, free

Unlike Firefox which is all things to all people, Tbird is a minimally functional email client. Email only. Nothing else. Plain interface too.

For advanced email users, I don't see this being useful.

Not sure what else you expect for functions - it does have RSS functionality, and with extensions can expand its uses quite a lot. Interface can be customized too, with themes for various "looks" and the addition of toolbar buttons to access many features. Not nearly the dizzying array of add-ons as available for Firefox, but still I wonder if you gave it much time? It's not perfect by any means (see my review) but I was surprised by the "cons" you noted.

I am trying to wean myself off of aol.....I used epreserver to convert the aol files to pst. When using Outlook 2003 with aol, I do not find it as user friendly, so I am looking at alternatives. I have about 20,000 saved emails in aol (and now in Outlook). You do not seem to like Thunderbird.....I've been looking at Eudora also.....any suggestions? I would like to keep my aol address, but could probably change if I had to. I would really like to hear your opinion. Thanks!
