"Very impressive, but still needs polish"
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Considering that this is (as far as I know) developed by one person, it's an incredible achievement. The rendering engine still has its foibles but it's much, much better than earlier versions - I haven't tested the JS / DOM support yet, though. At any rate building a rendering engine from scratch is a massive undertaking, and the fact that iCab has dramatically improved in this area is commendable.
That said, there are a few areas that really need attention. Most glaring is the overall interface, which is, to be completely frank, a dog's dinner. It really needs to be overhauled and made to look more like a true OS X application. The other major issue I've seen is that for page loading this is still the slowest OS X browser currently available.
This has a lot of good features and it's commendable that the project has lasted this long and improved so much in the past year, but it really can't be considered competition for the big boys until these issues are rectified.
