"No easy way to disable auto updates. Not for me."
Fast and looks good
cannot disable auto updates, without performing a registry edit.
a service named "google update" almost continuously runs in the background. i understand that auto-update is a good thing, but that doesn't mean google will not let me disable it. i don't like spoon-feeding. It's MY computer, I paid for it, google did not give it to me for free, and i want complete control over my computer.
it's NOT for me. And i wonder how come so many fanboys think taking control away from the user is a good thing. You can disable auto updates for everything, even windows updates and antivirus updates (not saying you do that, but Microsoft and Avast let's me decide what i want to do--they don't act smart and think i am an idiot who doesn't know what's good for me) so why should google be an exception? If you don't give me complete control over something i install in my PERSONAL computer, then you can S my D and get lost.
Don't install this. It will randomly phone home and not give you an easy option to disable this behavior. Firefox is better i would say. It's good for my grandmother who doesn't know much about computers and might make things worse by mis-configuring critical settings, but if you know what you are doing, stay away from this. Why would you do a registry hack for something so basic? Another reason to stay away from everything google, including android.
