"The weakest link for Apple"
there's an apple version
It comes preinstalled on your iDevice
apple makes crap software for other platforms
very little third party support
In nearly every hackathon in which Apple is involved, software proves to be the big, BIG hole. Usually that Software is safari. Additionally, Apple is one of the worst offenders when it comes to bloat and opting into things. Installing Safari subscribes you to keeping ALL your Apple software up to date. Yay.
On an iShouldhavethoughtthisover device you may have no choice, and it will probably run fine. On anything else, I would be genuinely mystified if you chose to use this over chrome, opera, firefox, and on a windows machine, even the newest version of IE. It's that bad. It is slow, it is veritably more insecure than any of the above listed browsers (even IE...Look it up), it doesn't even play well with many plugins or addons. I could overlook that if it was for security reasons, maybe, but no...it just doesn't. At least it has addblock plus now.
Bottom line - cnet in their furor to get traffic by mentioning the world "apple" like it's a drinking game is proposing you try it out for the non-mac world. Feel free. Then uninstall it. There are a plethora of far better choices. It's not like you're on a Mac.
