    "Great browser, but NOT trustworthy"

    October 12, 2010  |   By johnxtampa

    Pros

Great product, and can switch between Trident and Gecko instantly - Great for testing websites

    Cons

Cant be trusted (1): The Search Toolbar, even though it presents Google results, appends it's own "sponsored links" above the Google results, and they are disguised to look a LOT like regular Google results.

    Summary

Although the core product is very good, they integrity and honesty of the company/browser cannot be trusted, which in my opinion, makes me question whether it can be trusted with my privacy.

(More on untrustworthiness, since the "Cons" section doesn't allow long enough text). I Also told the browser at install time NOT to copy my IE and Firefox bookmarks. It copied them anyway.

Thanks for your review. I just wanted to point out one thing... The Search Toolbar you're talking about is actually a Lunascape Search powered by Google. The "Powered by Google" is clearly stated right next to the search input field when you're viewing a search result. Sure, it looks a lot like regular Google results. It has to be 'coz it's powered by Google, and it is just similar to what you see more on the Google AJAX Search page API page, too. Hope this will clarify your concern. Thanks.
