"Font auto-activation works with well with Leopard"
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I have hoped to avoid replacing FontAgent Pro with another font manager app but I had no choice: FontAgent Pro's auto-activation with Leopard still does not work. Here's a note from Insider Software's website:
"Please note that FontAgent Pro's preference to enable auto-activation is not recognized by applications running in Leopard that do not have FontAgent Pro auto-activation plug-ins or XTensions."
Yet they STILL do not offer updated plugins for Adobe CS3 apps even as CS4 is being released.
Suitcase fusion's auto font activation works great with Photoshop CS3 and, so far, with all of my other designated apps. The only feature I miss from FontAgent Pro's is the "WYSIWYG" option to display the font name in it's own typeface to quickly scan my font collections's lists for the appropriate font. Suitcase Fusion has an adequate font preview UI, but nothing great. SF also allows you to temporarily enable specific fonts, which is a great feature. Importing over 9,000 fonts into SF's "Vault" was completed in under 15 minutes and was problem free. Overall, a stable app that I'd recommend, though the price is certainly steep.
