"Fast and simple - BUT big problems with the toolbar"
a great number of languages
a range of custom and specialised dictionaries
only one word translations (no sample sentences to show usage)
not helpful for languages where gender is an important feature (for some languages you will not see the gender of the noun)
and the added spyware you will almost never get rid of
(I am writing this review years after I uninstalled Babylon from my Toshiba laptop - but the toolbar is suddenly back again on Chrome - like an ever-recurring infestation!).
Frankly, the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. The ever-presentation infestation of spyware is a very real problem. The absence of sample sentences makes it of marginal use to a serious language learner; for such a learner, it is a supplement - you will need a serious dictionary as well. Most of its functions can be handled by Google Translate when online. If using it offline, please take heed of the warnings from reviewers about the infestation of the toolbar.From the privacy statement:
