"Backup software seems Pointless"
Pros
Pretty pointless. Isn't is just as easy to copy onto a CD or DVD or Flash drive or somewhere that has the capacity to hold all your files?? This type of backup just copies onto another drive on your system instead of your main hard drive.......
Cons
...So, if for example your hard drive is C: in XP, all you're doing is copying it all onto another drive, eg. F drive. Therefore, if your system collapses, and info on your drives goes with it.
However, if was backed up "online", that's different!!!Summary
Pointless unless it offers online backup??

Come on, Vanillaman! What do you want from a backup program? Do you know what a backup is? Did you ever needed a backup? Can you understand how the program works?
I tried it, and I find it really useful as a great job. -
FBackup doesn't copy from one local drive to another, it lets you backup automatically to external/removable drives (such as usb enclosures for instance) or network locations. So if your drive fails you can easily restore from the destination drive.
And it does more just copying, it lets you do backups automatically (meaning you configure it to run periodically and it will do the backup without your intervention), it backs the files up by compressing them (if you don't want it to create exact copies), it backs up open files (which you cannot do by simply copying/pasting since the file is in use) and much more. If you don't understand how a backup application works and what it does then you shouldn't add pointless comments (I also see in your profile that probably 90% of your reviews are 1-star review, so that says something about your character).
