"After 6 years with NO viruses on any of our computers"

    April 25, 2013  |   By macdoug1950

Stops anything on the internet if there is a problem.
Checks e-mails in/out (almost everyone we know without Avast or similar good anti-virus has had breaches in their system allowing e-mails containing viruses or links to viruses go out to people in their contact/address list), we have never had any. Of course, we also don't click on links sent to us unless we check them out first.
Like the option to update software. Even though we do, it is a good reminder if we miss something for some reason. For instance, Adobe Flash may have the same version but may have an upgraded file designation so while it may look like you already have the updated version, when you check out the file designation you can see that it is a later version.

Other than the fact that it wants to install a Google browser with each upgrade and we have to remember to uncheck the box before downloading, we have found no other Cons.

Most of our family and friends use Avast. We recommend it to everyone. However, that does not mean that users can just go around clicking on anything they receive from a friend or find on the internet. We all need to be diligent and aware of possible sources of viruses or malware.. If you do that, Avast does the rest and more and ensures we get no surprises.
