"free version of avast is dangerous and useless ."

    March 24, 2013  |   By salesalex

    Pros

fast boot time , low ram usage but those things are irrelevant compared to cons .

    Cons

free version of avast is junk , scam , virus by itself , unstable , malware , hard-disk killer and internet killer.
it enables the installation of viruses without any prompt and should not be ever installed on any computer .

    Summary

people who like this antivirus probably reinstall their OS every few months or call some tech to do the repair and think that it is normal - well , it is not normal at all if you ask me .

Here is the truth why Avast is at the Top of the list and has the most Downloads on CNET.You can go do a search for Avast Free on Google and on Avasts own website they tell you to come here to download it.

Sad times. It's not great when you see companies such as Avast publicly tell people to get their software from CNET (same way that AVG Free encourages you to go to CNET).

They want to do this as they want to push their ranking higher on Download.com, nothing more nothing less. There are no "technical issues". Most reputable downloads sites simply link to the direct links listed above.

However, security companies have an obsession about being high up on the Download.com "Most Popular" list. Seriously. They love it. Why? As Download.com users are those most likely to be influenced. They are, generally, novice users. So, get yourself high up the Download.com ranking and, you receive increased sales.

It's just really sad when a company encourages users to ditch other download sites and only go to Download.com - what a really poor short term strategy.
