  Summary

  Do not install this on a gaming PC, my son complained every time it occured - and of course, was in-game. The pop-up even crashes certain full-screen games so do not install on a PC if you play games that rely on real-time of any sort.

  Though a technical violation of the EULA one agrees to when installing Avira Free A/V, disabling the large pop-up that occurs with each update is not difficult to effect. See "How to Remove the Popup Ads in Avira Antivir" -- http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-the-Popup-Ads-in-Avira-Antivir (Win XP through 7). I've successfully applied the outlined procedures to more than a dozen Windows boxes, Win XP through 7 (though they should extrapolate to Win 8).

  If you install the toolbar there wont be any pop up ads.
