    "Slows down mac performances"

    May 30, 2012  |   By freakQNC

    Pros

Free, offers ability to optionally be part of community allowing faster gathering of infection data to be used to develop updates of virus definitions

    Cons

On a Mac Pro Dual Quad-core 3.0 GHz Xeon with 9GB RAM performance of tasks as simple as retrieving mail is slowed down unacceptably slow.

When mail is IMAP using SSL you always get large notifications about not being able to scan traffic because of SSL connection which makes the feature of mail scanning only partially useful.

Detected infected files are removed but then will keep reappearing over and over making the app just ineffective and annoying because keeps showing the same notification of "infection found" for the same files (attachments in IMAP "All mail" of Google Account)... some JS troj. crap that, although the program claims to have "Deleted" it seems to continue to keep where it was.

The scanning of local files may require running scan overnight on systems with large drives (have a total of 3TB storage which is not even an extreme case with today's available HDD storage capacities).

Most annoying is that app window is not resizable even if you have a large monitor.

    Summary

15,000 characters limit on optional summary but only 1,000 on pros and cons. How comes up with these ideas at CNet?
