"Malware designers know how to get around this sucker"
Pros
None if it allows virus to get by it
Cons
I was using this a few years ago and picked up a malware virus that went right around this program. I could not open it, or tell it to do anything. I was powerless as the virus took over my computer.
I read an article on CNET on getting rid of malware virus', tried it and it worked. Lucky for me. After that, and I'm not trying to sell anything here, I bought McAfee Anti Virus and have not had any issues.
Just had to say no to the free ones. Avast was just as bad and hosed up the performance of computer.Summary
For me, the option was to just pony up to the bar and pay for security rather than rely on the free-bies. Tried them and they didn't work when they needed to.

McAfee uses Avast anti-virus software. AVG is well trusted and very clean.

Hello Derty_Ernie,
Please note that none of the anti-virus solutions is able to provide 100% protection. There are thousands of new malware threats made everyday. Although our virus specialist are the best, there is always some time between first infection detection and AVG virus database update (few hours), so if you are really unlucky your computer may became infected in the meantime. Also there is always chance that something slips off.
Could you please discuss your experience with AVG with us at CNET AVG Forum or AVG Forums?
Thank you
