"Should NOT be rated #2 in CNET downloads"

    February 25, 2012  |   By AntivirusGeek

Avast is so much better than AVG who tries to imitate Avast but is a failure. When Avast compres to Avira, it crushes it since Avira free only offers system protection and not web protection unlike Avast.
Avast is the best free roubust protector for your system!!!!!!

    Not a darn thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should BE rated #1 in CNET

So here's what misicman4you. I like to see that youre interested and have strong views about your AVIRA.But here's what you are misguided. No offense. Avast detection rate on malware in the system is not as high as Avira (by about 10%)but Avast auto sandbox isolates the suspicious item automatically so no harm is done to the system. Also Avast new cloud feature automatically submits the suspicious item to their labs while keeping the file in the sandbox. This is done in the background so the user is not aware until the result has been made. Finally Avast web protection blocks 95% plus based on AV- COMPARATIVES. WEST COAST LABS and AV-TEST. So if Avast has block the threat on the internet do you expect the system to have any threats? Clearly not. So Avast will not be showing any pop-ups since there is no threat on the system.

However, Avira free does not has the web guard so th threat is "allowed" to enter the system. Then you will threat detections from Avira. Also Avira detects the temp files left by the virus (not harmful)separately so you would see various pop-ups.
I can't make it any clearer to you. I hope you understand and remember no offense meant.
Oh and if I had to buy a suite I would go with F - SECURE or KASPERSKY because of the excellent detection rates.

There is also a few videos on youtube about how Avasts detection rates are not that good at all.The detection rates are not as good as Avira. It crushes Avira Free is a joke.Just because it doesn't have WebGuard doesn't mean it want catch those viruses.I have used both for several years and the Free 6 Month Trial of Aviras Paid Premium Version. It puts Avast to shame.SORRY but Avasts detection rates are not that good. You use Avast and I will use Avira and Malwarebytes.Might even pay for the Avira Premium Version again. If I was gonna buy one it would be Avira or Kaspersky with HIGH DETECTION RATES.
