"Best free AV overall"
Easy to use
Great real time protection
-Causes startup times to be quite longer, but as to be expected as it loads and instantly starts searching for, downloading and installing updates. Which is why i had to force it to not run for a few mins after boot up, to give everything else time to load before taking all of the system resources.
-Annoying popups (can be solved by leaving gaming/silent mode on all the time, and then go to the messages, and set updates to 1second long)
-Annoying ads when you have avast window open saying to buy paid version
(AVG sucks, it gives false positives and labels everything as a fking virus i swear. liek it labels tracking cookies as viruses... avg=scareware)
Really the cons are quite minor and have work arounds.
If you want really good protection, get malwarebytes ( https://malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free ).
Its a standalone scanner, so it will run fine with avast or toher AV software.
Malwarebytes has the best detection/removal for everything (viruses, malware, spyware, adware). Its so good in fact, paid AV software support, will tell you to get it to remove infections lmao
So you get avast for the realtime protection, and malwarebytes for a scanner, and that combo is unmatched for free.
But no software can protect against ignorance...
So try to get some common sense when browsing the web and downloading....
