"Got a trojan on Monday and McCafee was all but useless."
Pros
I've had this two years on two computers and no problems except: it can't tell time. I set my daily scan time for 8:30 am and it will scan whenever, 9 10 8:50, who knows. I gave up caring, it will scan but not on your time.
Cons
1. Company automatically registers you for auto renewal. Thus they charge your credit card automatically, 30 days before the licence expires. Thus the real costs your paying if a 11 month costs not a year protection like they advertise.
2. I understand the virus protection is only gauranteed for 30 days. My relattives just got hosed by McCafee and spent a fortune getting rid of a virus because McCafee basically told them too bad. It costs more to get a virus removed after 30 days. Might as well get a free version of something and save the dough.Summary
My license expires Aug 10,2012. I'm dumping them and going elsewhere. They jacked the price up double from last year, did the auto renewal which I never do and then said they would mail a refund check to me in 6 weeks. Took one second to charge my card, get my money and 6 weeks to refund me.
PS, the trojan horse I got on Monday, went around McCaffee like it wasn't there. My icon was gone, the program couldn't be opened and it was up to me to get rid of the virus which I did and it wasn't easy.
