"Crashes Outlook, and crashed my whole system once"

    February 5, 2011  |   By calico1000

    Pros

Used the older versions for over 7 years and it did the job. This one does not.

    Cons

I get a runtime error message every time I install it and then it closes Microsoft Outlook, making it impossible to to get email.
The first time I installed the new version, it crashed my whole system and would not let me uninstall it.

    Summary

If you want to install it, scan, and then uninstall (praying the whole time that uninstall will actually work without crashing the entire system) it, go ahead. Otherwise, beware.

I had to pay an IT person to remove & get rid of the blue screen of death. They did not believe me when I told them I thought it was AVG causing the problem, & could not figure out a way to fix it after removing AVG. In fact they were the ones who reccomended AVG to me over 7 years ago. I am running XP and had hoped this latest version had fixed the problem, so I downloaded it. It did not. Luckily, it was also able to be removed without the blue screen!

    Updated on Feb 18, 2011

Tried it again last week, it still closed Microsoft Outlook every time I tried to open the program to see my email. Runtime error. I have spent too much time and money trying to figure out what is wrong with this version of AVG. After years of happily using AVG, I have to finally admit, it is no longer something I can use. ; (

    Hello calico1000,

please accept our sincere apologies for any inconveniences caused by AVG product.

Could you please discuss this situation with us at CNET AVG Forum or AVG Free Forum?

For uninstallation can be used AVG remover:

The BSOD issue - we are highly interested in the dump files (from C:\Windows\Minidump) for closer analysis.

    Thank you
