"Avira Is The Best - Hand's Down"

    July 21, 2009  |   By i_made_this

    Pros

After trying Avira AntiVir Free For Windows for a couple of years, we were so impressed that we bumped up to the paid versions for Windows, for OS X and for Linux. Use is intuitive - as easy as you wish for beginner thru expert users.

    Cons

Like any Networking and Internet Security Program, Avira takes a bit of customizing during your first couple weeks of use to suit your requirements.

    Summary

The paid versions for the three operating systems offer some unique features like GameMode, BackupSystem, AntiBot and Network QOS Blind (similar to Comodo's switching your IP / MAC addresses with their's).

For serious gamers, the GameMode is impressive - it can differentiate between unharmful DRM with a small or no footprint like SecureCom versus potentially harmful DRM with a large footprint that's always on and takes up valuable bandwidth and disk space like Punkbusters.

I give Avira unqualified approval, no matter the computing platforms you use. From their full solutions to their free solutions, they provide security of the highest quality that's cheap at the price.
