"It's OK but won't let me download it!!"

    December 20, 2008  |   By biztastic

    Pros

Seems to alert me when I have a virus so that I may take care of it. Download.com is making me download index.php tho not the program!?!?!

    Cons

Doesn't really have the correct technology to really get rid of the viruses, often it'll be like I FOUND A VIRUS so I say delete or move to quarantine and it's like =( I can't! The virus is a bully!!! so I had to use a program like "Unlocker"

    Summary

Well I just use it to alert me of viruses, I really don't expect it to get rid of them. There is technology to get rid of stubborn viruses but AVG Does not utilize that technology. There is always a way to force delete/remove a virus. It also detects things I made in visual basic as a virus sometimes and I'm like DUDE that is not a virus why did you just delete it?!? and AVG cries like =( I sowwy I did not know! so yeah.. I dunno any better antivirus myself that's free. Antivir is just abnoxious compared to AVG, it's like CHIRPCHIRPCHIRP every time it finds a virus, which wakes my family up and they're like >.< KEEP IT QUIET and I'm like but it was Antivir's fault =( so then I have to snip the wire inside my case to my pc speaker and Antivir is all mischevious like bahahahaha!.. then it pops up annoying advertisments when I'm in a game and I die in the game and I'm like >.< EVIL antivir!.

Not with AVG!!! no annoying sounds at all coming from the pc speaker, just a gentle notice of "umm >.> I think I found a virus, but it's a bully so I can't get rid of it =( it bit my pinky" so I'm like aww poor AVG *pats on head* I will get a bandaid and use unlocker to remove it. *gives AVG a cookie* sometimes it rejects cookies, thinking it's the internet kind of cookie and I have to reassure it that it's a chocolate chip cookie. ANYWAYS!
Yes.. go for it, if you can download the program AVG is awesome! and it's cute.

But don't forget "Unlocker" you'll need that to remove the bully viruses.

and for some reason Download.com is making me download a file 57MB in size called index.php lol! not sure what that means?!?

Hey - I was having the same issue with it downloading as index.php. Turns out that you are still downloading the AVG installer so all you need to do is change the file extension from php to exe. (IE: Renaming the file from index.php to something like index.exe or AVG.exe ______.exe) Hope that helps!
