"Free and easy, except the manual updates and the very difficult uninstall"

    December 31, 2007  |   By MaxLaw

I had used another free home antivirus program before, and indeed recommended that other program to my wife for her home computer. I went for awhile to Avira, but came back yesterday to that other program (AVG), as I grew tired of having to manually update the antivirus program (AVG does it daily). When I went to uninstall Avira, it was hell. It would briefly show the blue screen of death and then woudl reboot. Finally, I had to go into Safe Mode on my Windows XP to unistall it. Ycch! It was free, a plus, but so is AVG. Goodbye Avira, hello my old friend AVG.

    Manually having to update.

    Horrendous experience with uninstalling it.

Occasional virus alert, when there was no virus.
