    "The best consumer protection, period"

    March 20, 2007  |   By xbentleyx

Spysweeper has always been a top anti-spyware product. The real time protection works well and the addition of the Sophos AV scanner is the best money can buy. Sophos is 100% commercial AV so the engine is fast and it updates more frequently than ANY other AV. AV is only as good as the updates. Don't take my word for it: secunia.com/chronological_virus_list/

Spysweeper with Sophos is a the one of the best combinations of security a consumer can get. Spyware Doctor is another great solution but, the AV option isn't as strong. Most people don't know Sophos because they don't sell consumer products.

Spysweeper has always taken a fair amount of resources to do all those scans (shields.) The addition of the AV obviously has to take up some more resources but, if you have a decent computer then it shouldn't be a problem. A lot of people complain about it being slow... check your taskbars people. If you have 25 programs running then every time each one of them accesses a file, your security scanner (whatever it is,) has to scan those files. This eats up a lot of processing power and ram.
