"Best RAW editor. Limited features after 30 days."

    March 3, 2013  |   By Lloyd_Hayes

    Pros

It has several nice tools. It is also the best RAW file editor which I have come across.

There is both a free version and a paid version. The download enables the paid version for 30 days. Afterwards, it reverts to the free version.

    Cons

Crippleware. All features are available for 30 days. Afterwards, only some of the features are available unless you buy a license. Plus your purchase is only good for one year. You have to renew your license each year.

Also, limited tools and poor layer editing interface.

    Summary

This is the best RAW file editor which I have found anywhere. However, you can't edit RAW files with the free version after 30 days.

This software comes with a limited amount of tools. They work extremely well, and better then most software packages. But you have a limited selection.

The layer editing interface could be designed a lot better.

The free version should be enough for any photo snap-shooter. But if you use a DSLR, then plan on purchasing the paid version.

With the software comes a an online photo sharing web location, like Flickr and Google. You can upload software directly to it, or to some of the others from this software. It can also keep your online photos in sync with your photos on your computer.

I just purchased a license for the 3rd year since I shoot with a DSLR. As I stated above, the RAW file editor is the main selling point for the paid version of this software and worth the money.

Realized my mistake after exchanging emails with you. I had upgraded my software from version 14 to 15 without being aware of the new license fee for the new version.

    Hi Lloyd!
Thanks for great review, we are glad you like Zoner Photo Studio!
Anyway just wanted to correct you in one tiny but very important detail- purchased licence is not limited to one year, it is not limited by time at all.
