    "Just Get This!"

    July 10, 2009  |   By zanzzz

    Pros

DFX can improve virtually any audio source, period. There are other programs that work in a similar fashion but they are either confusing or inferior in my opinion.

    Cons

Won't work with every player. Why not make this program play with all audio out or at least broaden the compatibility and market just one version? I guess the answer to most questions in life- money!

    Summary

I have had DFX since version 6 and honestly can't claim any noticeable differences, just better bells and whistles. The presets are a joke in my experience, although you can use them as a starting point to optimize your sound.
The real value here is the on-the-fly processing that clearly improves the listening quality of sources- even non compressed ones. One reason is that most recordings are compressed and equalized in ways that will not give the best perceived sound from various listen equipment and its environment.
One advantage of the Winamp version is that MediaMonkey and GOM Player will also run DFX when you add the dll file to them.
Don't bother skimping along with the hobbled free version, the full is better and worth it!
