"Simple to use, effective, and free also"
Summary
Make sure you download the latest version from GrabIt's website (linked to on Cnet), as at the time of this review the version on this site is old :) But as far as the actual program, it is very simple to use, and gets the job done quickly and easily. Everything is done in batches, and the batches are multithreaded - even the header updates are part of the batch/multithreaded system. The interface is uncluttered and attractive (the three floppy disk button you click to add posts to the batch gives you a nice cozy nostalgic feeling). One thing that this binary newsreader has that I haven't seen so much is that it tells you how long is left to download your batch. There was only one problem with it, that it occasionally has a minor crash on closing the program - this is a minor inconvienience though (under XP), and it never loses any data that way - I'm sure it will be fixed soon. I personally use NetLimiter with this program so it can drip-feed without hogging up all the b/w while I do things, and I put the cache and download folders on a PGPdisk. Two thumbs up.
