"Linkscanner ate my AVG Security Suite"
Pros
Never functioned as advertised, so I really can't say.
Cons
It disabled and disappeared AVG Security Suite on installation. Just gone. No idea why.
Summary
I have used security from Grisoft AVG for 10 years and never had a problem. OK, I once found an infection that disabled AVG Virus Checker, but the problem was easy to fix with a re-install. Linkscanner is the first product from Grisoft AVG that has really malfunctioned, and it malfunctioned from the get-go. I went through the install routine and all seemed fine. The next day I was due to teach a class and noticed a few minutes before the start that AVG was not active. Since my class was on PC security, I was in deep kim-chee. I had nothing to demo. Bummer !!
I removed Linkscanner and re-installed AVG 9. That seems to have solved the problem. But what a disaster perpetrated on me by AVG, who has [no, had] a reputation for helping the little guys out !!
