"Its not completely useless, but better HOSTS file managers are available."

    August 5, 2006  |   By CableguyTK

    Its free.

    It has a pretty interface.

It makes editing the HOSTS file quite easy.

It lets you lock and unlock the hosts file, as well as enable and disable it.

It doesnt do much outside of editing the HOSTS which is really of any value. Sure, locking and enabling it is worthwhile, but its something that you can do quite easily by yourself with ease.

The only thing that this makes easy for the user is quick access to the HOSTS file without having to browse or create a shortcut for it. It seems to be a frontend for Notepad with perminent access to the HOSTS file. Nothing very special.

The buttons in the program are rather redundant, with everything appearing in the menus at the top of the window.

Its a nice free program, but I suggest you check out the program HOSTSman. Its free, it does everything this program does, and it does a lot of stuff this program does but stuff you would want from a HOSTS file updates from a HOSTS file which is managed and maintained by reputable people in the ad-blocking business. HOSTSman lets you choose from 1, or all of 3 places in which to download and merge them into your HOSTS file...something AdBin should have looked into doing.

Adbin has this trashcan icon which seems to indicate you can drag and drop an advertisement into it for automatic addition by the program into the HOSTS file. I couldnt get it to work...

Just go get HOSTSman if you want a HOSTS file manager.
